Volkswagen T25 Westfalia California 1989

This is a Original T25, Westfalia, California, 4-berth, Campervan that that we have owned since August 2013 (over 10 years). The van was used reguarly for many years however has sadly been off road since covid, dry stored in a local barn. Whilst stored our family has grown and we brought an air beam tent so with heavy hearts it’s time for cali to go and be used and enjoyed.

The van starts, runs and drives absoluty fine but is being sold without an MOT which is reflected in the price. I would imagine new tyres all round (cracking due to being stood for so long) service/MOT and off you go. It has never failed an MOT with anything major but does have a reasonable list of advisories (35 year old vehicle) from looking at the last MOT certificate which expired August 2020.

We have had the hightop and front of the van profesionally restored during our ownership. The sides (mainly rear panels) are suffering the usual corrosion issues (see pics) which will need to be addresed at some point.

The van does not currently have a leisure battery installed (it died due to lack of use) but it has had a modern 3-stage charger installed for managing the leisure battery when travelling/camping.

It is great on fuel economy being a 1600-cc Turbo diesel and drives smooth. It has the JX engine which equates to 70bhp.

It is left hand drive and covered 289,178-Km (179,686 miles). Both engine and gearbox are sound, starts first time every time and has never let us down. We always expected it to and we always went prepared but it never ever let us down mechanicaly. Since getting it running again it does need new fuel return hoses as they are leaking slightly.

Sleeps two up and two down. Rock and Roll bed below, slide out bed above across the roof. The roof has two wind out vents c/w fly screens.

The original cooker worked perfectly along with the sink and motor operated water tap the last time it was used. The fridge works on battery, electric and gas and keeps things really cool when in use and again worked fine the last time it was used. Due to being sat for so long all the habitation elements of the van will need going through and servicing/recomissioning.

Camper comes with fly screens and silver reflective window covers through-out.

The van has an ARB sun awning fitted and the van will also come with an ARB wind break side and ARB room which mounts under the sun awning. This gives great flexibility for short or long trips.

There is a ‘Fiamma’ bike rack on the tail door for two bikes.

LPG tanks and water tanks were all fully functional the last time the van was used and located underneath of the vehicle.

There is a tow hitch and electrics although we have never used them whilst under our ownership.

No oil or waterleaks, engine runs smooth. Five gears with power assisted steering.

All the usual extras associated with an original Westfalia Conversion are included (original curtans will also be supplied). There is one lap belt and one 3-point seat belt in the rear seats. Three point seat belts are found to both captain seats in the front. Also included is a lader to access the upsrairs sleeping and a buddy seat/box for the chemical loo (not included). These buddy seats alone are highly sort after as i believe you cant really find them these days.

The only items I am aware that don’t work is the rear window wiper (maybe motor I’m not sure) although I have never had the need to ever use it and the van also has a webasto deisal night heater which has never worked (assume needs servicing).

I spent months looking for the right VW campervan when we bought this and was delighted when I found this original Westy quite close by.

All of the original German imported manuals and instruction booklets are present too showing the detailed original history of the campervan before being imported from Germany.
