1931 Mathis PY7 Classic Car (PLUS A 2nd Mathis PY7 for restoration or spares)

1931 Mathis PY7 (PLUS comes with a 2nd Mathis PY7 for either restoration or as support spares for this car)

This little French car is almost 100 years old.  It’s rare; it’s beautiful and it’s almost finished but needs a new owner capable to complete it and bring her back to the road!

She spent 72 years in a Chateau in France with just 1 owner from new (see pic in front of white doors before leaving France).  Then in 2016 came over to the UK and began her restoration journey. 

She has had a ground up restoration which has proved challenging given her wooden frame and her age. 

Chassis / underside any plating repairs done and repainted 

New running boards

Engine removed, head skimmed, new plugs, points, leads etc etc.  

Radiator pressure tested, new hoses 

Petrol tank relined and exterior powder coated 

New wooden roof with new vinyl cover

New interior: seats, carpet,  roof lining,  door cards etc

Exterior repainted a few years ago (a few minor marks during later restoration)

Wheels powder coated and new tyres

Video available of engine running in tests.  Please note it is a 6v system which would benefit from upgrade to 12v.  Starting tests only able to do in 12v briefly as she would not hold a start on 6v.

Yet to be completed:

Pedals fitted / footwell panel around them

Wiring loom needed

Would benefit from upgrade to 12v from 6v

Brakes are cable operated but not checked

Front windscreen closing mechanism needed (front screen had to be made; moves opens and closes)

Mathis owners club in France have confirmed the 72 years ownership in France from their register. However the car has not been registered for UK and is being sold as a project for completion. 

IN ADDITION, INCLUDED with this sale is 2nd Mathis PY7 car (last pic in black) which is for either full restoration or as spares to support this car should she ever need panels, chassis parts etc.  There are only a few hundred of this car left in the world now and I have been led to believe less than 10 in the UK so parts are limited. Both cars are being sold together.

Several years of work has been spent on this little Mathis to get to where she is now, but a change of circumstances forces sale.
