You are looking at a
lovely original and now very rare Ford transit MK2 Panel Van. The van was
imported around three years ago from Portugal so is highly rust free due to the
very warm climate with no road salt. The UK Mk 2 transits are all but extinct
so unfortunately the best ones available have to be imported from warmer
countries.

As you can see the
van is Left hand drive but its very easy to drive with excellent visibility,
Its actually very easy to convert to right hand drive as all the blanks in the
bulkhead are present but to be honest I wouldn’t bother as its very original,
Its still in its original colour of Indian Red which it left the factory with.

The van is a Ford
Transit 100 SWB and originally had a ford 1600cc crossflow engine with 4 speed
gearbox but its been upgraded to a fully rebuilt and superb 2000 cc Pinto
engine usually found in Cortina’s and capris of the time which obviously
changes the power the van has quite a lot and makes it much more usable. Its
also had the original 4 speed gearbox replaced recently with an excellent 5
speed with new three piece clutch

It’s in Excellent
running order and is a very reliable usable Classic van that turns heads
wherever it goes. It pulls well and keeps up with modern traffic no problems.
The engine and running gear are superb and we very recently drove (Or my wife
did) 150 miles on a classic car run without any issues.

It’s got a separate
leisure battery fitted which lives under the Rear floor. It’s charged when the
engine is running through a separate system and gives hours of power without
the worry of draining the main engine battery.

The bodywork on the van
is excellent and polishes up lovely, its still in its original colour but has
been full Re-painted a few years ago and still looks pretty fresh. It’s a very
tidy job but obviously it’s a panel van so its not a concourse job but definitely
wouldn’t embarrass you in a car show. The grill bumpers mirror etc. are all
again very good.

To sum up the
overall condition of the van is superb and very usable. It’s not a stunning
show car but looks to be very original and looks very tidy throughout. It’s
very reliable and usable and will take you anywhere. If you wanted to go back
to a standard van the interior camper furniture could easily be removed or
adapted. Obviously the van is tax and MOT Exempt with classic car insurance
still incredibly cheap this is a great duel purpose classic van that still looks
like a van with a excellently appointed camper hidden in the rear.

I have the Full V5
with two sets of keys that lock all doors but unfortunately I don’t have any
other paperwork for the engine as all the work was carried out by a ex ford
mechanic and active classic ford club member so it was all done In-house and he
was the type of guy who knew how to totally rebuild a engine but not retain
paperwork unfortunately
