1966 Ford Mustang Notchback, ex NASCAR racer

1966 Ford Mustang GT Notchback, ex Texas NASCAR racer with a rebuilt 5.7l Stroker engine. Purchased 6 years ago but not getting used.

This was an oval racetrack car in Texas. It has a NASCAR roll cage fitted
welded in front to rear and welding is at a very high standard.

 

Engine is a Ford 302 small
block with a 347 Stroker kit fitted rated at >400Bhp (5.7litre). Measured recently
on the rear wheels at 305BHP but has had improvements since then so 400+BHP.

 

All new engine
internals, new stroker kit bearings crank, rods, pistons, rings.

New oval
circuit race cam, chain and sprocket, solid lifters and bearings and
new Inlet manifold. Recent heads and Holley carb refurb with photographic
record.

Gearbox is a new T5, 5
speed Manual Gearbox and Fitting Kit. New Billet Flywheel and new Stage 2
Clutch Kit. New Clutch Cable conversion Kit. New Billet Prop shaft with new UJ’s.
New Billet Bell Housing. Rear axle all good having been upgraded to new 5 leaf
springs and recharged gas dampers.

 

All running gear has
been overhauled and recent upgrades to reline brake pads. Front and Rear Disc
conversion kits fitted. Recent new shocks all round with bushings and pins.

 

Bodywork is totally
rust free with new bonnet, boot lid, doors.

 

Paintwork is plasti-dipped
and will peel off when the car is ready to be painted. It is in etch primmer
under the plasti-dip covering, just peel off and paint.

 

Exhaust is Headman
shorty headers 4-1 with new stainless-steel system.

 

Wheels and tyres are
virtually new metal rims and tyres with racing studs. Also has a set of 4 alloy
Weldlite drag wheels at extra cost. These are super light alloy wheels and staggered
fitting, fitted with New Road/Drag Mickey Thomson tyres. Plus associated studs
and nuts.

 

New carpets and
headlining and door cards. Dash in good condition, everything works.

 

Work
completed recently

Rear brake pads relined,
and handbrake sorted.

Windscreen wipers
refitted and now working.

Water bottle fitted
to boot

Fuel tank sender
connections fixed

Track rod end o/s and
n/s bushes replaced

Tie bar bushes
replaced

O/S top ball joint
rubber perished/ replaced

Rear springs removed
(were 3 leaf light weight but caused back sag/ wheel rub on arches and poor
suspension). Replaced with uprated 5 leaf heavy duty springs.

Rear axle had 30mm
leaf spring location socket not compatible with either 3 or 5 leaf spring.
Sourced and fitted 30mm spacer so axle and spring are properly located. Much
improver back end performance.

Rear gas shock
absorbers recharged.

Windscreen replaced.

Radiator replaced
with aftermarket alloy version and antifreeze added to -15oC

Fuel tank emptied and
all engine bay fuel lines replaced to Codan SAE J30 R9 rubbers.

Glass fuel filter
fitted.

Choke control fitted
and custom choke return spring fitted.

New rear exhaust
fittings and lefthand side rear exhaust mount secured.

Dodgy indicator
fittings sorted.

New Holley Carb fitted
(Street Avenger 670) and rejetted.

Heads stripped,
valves lapped and springs and oil seals replaced. All new head and manifold gaskets. Cylinders
 compression tested and all 8 in the range 175-200psi
(stock compression is circa 130-150 psi). All plugs replaced for new, Bosch FR7
DCX, upgraded to Yttrium. Flame Thrower Electronic ignition fitted.

Differential pinion
oil seal replaced (Ford 8” diff).

Tested on rolling
road as delivering ~305HP to the rear wheels (Wheel Horse Power) so probably
~400+BHP (Brake Horse Power) at the flywheel. This was prior to any recent
improvements associated with heads and carb.


Sailed through last MOT, only driven ~50miles since then. It
has been dry stored and SORNed for the past 3 years. This beast needs a new home!
