£10,000.00 (as of 10th April 2024, 12:46 pm)

For sale is my 1980 Mercedes G Wagen W460 that has a shortened Toyota Hilux Surf Body Shell and an Isuzu 3.0 Turbo Diesel Engine and Isuzu 5 Speed Manual Gearbox.

*** UPDATE : 30/03/24 I have just fitted a new fully Mechanical 4JB1 Fuel Pump, this is a common modification for these engines. This allowed me to purge the ECU wiring loom and make a new no frills version. I will be making it neater over the next few days. ***

It is my winch challenge truck off road project, 10 years in the making.

The donor G Wagen had only done 66974Km (42k miles), but the body was completely rotten and not worth saving. I have included photos of its speedo as proof as I still have the full wiring loom.

The donor for the Engine and Gearbox is a 2004 Isuzu NPR77 Truck it was a low mileage engine 73805 miles at last MOT in Sept 2011, I have the receipt from when the complete vehicle was purchased for the donor parts in 2012.

The donor body is a 2nd Generation RHD Toyota Hilux Surf KNZ130, it was a rust free Japanese import, known in the UK as a Toyota 4Runner.

The G Wagon chassis is unmodified, it is the original length and width. It has been painted in Frosts Extreme Chassis Paint.

It has the Original Chassis VIN plate and the V5 is in my name.

The major work carried out so far is as follows :-

    • Axles : Totally Stripped and Rebuilt with new Bearings, Seals etc.

    • Engine : EGR Blanked Off.
Underneath the body and externally is a complete Rollcage / Spaceframe, bolted to the chassis on custom plates welded to the chassis, the front wings are formed around the cage as well.

I will not be splitting the vehicle for parts, there are 1000s of hours of work in it and over £12k in parts costs.

It is still road legal as no modifications have been made to the chassis.

Any inspection welcome.

Poor quality rolling chassis’s that need restoration sell for over £5000, my axles are fully rebuilt and like all G Wagen parts they are hard to find and very expensive.

The engine and gearbox are worth another £3000.

The Mechanical Fuel Pump and Adaptor Kit cost over £1000.

The Land Rover Wolf Wheels and New Tyres are worth nearly £2000.

The Brake Calipers are brand new still in boxes, they cost over £300 each and there are 4 of them.

New Brake Pads still in their shrink wrap in their boxes, new disks were fitted to the axles.

The CV joints were imported from USA, they are guaranteed for life and cost nearly £1200 each.

The Hilux cab is in mint condition, it was purchased from a friend in Southern Europe.

It just needs the following finishing, I will add to this as I think of things :-
  • ECU Wiring needs removing, I am doing this currently.
  • Complete brake pipe replacement
  • A couple of the brackets on the cage need welding up
  • Clutch Pipes need fabricating.
  • Rear Cab Window is propped up via wood, hadn’t decided on fixed or opening version.
  • No Batteries Mounts, hadn’t decided on final location.
  • Its currently open header and the EGR is blocked off, it may require a silencer.
It comes with a pair of new Seaflow Inline Fans and industrial grade venting hose to plumb into the rear cooling ducting solution.

Its a great project which I am unable to finish due to the onset of arthritis in my hands and back.

I’d hoped to be taking it to events next year but my body isn’t up to finishing it or competing not even as a passenger.

I may px but it needs to be cash my way or a straight swap.

I know people who can transport it for you once it is paid for.
