This Ford C800 was originally a deicer truck at Coventry airport.
These quirky cabover trucks were built from 1957 up until 1990 in Louisville Kentucky with very little change. Most were service trucks from fire engines to garbage trucks.
Once fitted with a V8 petrol engine but now has an ‘on the button’ Cummins 6BT turbo diesel engine. Gearbox is an Allison auto for easy driving c/w power steering.
It would make a great vintage/ratrod car transporter for a classic Ford car. The truck has been rewired and some repairs to the cab have been done. There is still plenty to do to make it your own. The last photo shows its potential.
The chassis is solid with total deck length at 4850mm x 2360mm wide (about 16′ x 7’9″). Wheelbase is 3.4m or about 11′.
It was never registered for the road so didnt come with any paperwork. I have however got a NOVA reference and VAT has been paid in order to register it for the road. The VIN plate is on the vehicle which confirms it is a 1981 truck. There is also a letter from the American Truck Historial Society stating as such. My understanding is there are people which can help with the registration and it mainly concerns an inspection to confirm the VIN plate is attached to the vehicle in question.
I have two metal cabinets and other steelwork which can be used for installing storage cabinets under the rear deck. There is also the extensions for the front wheel arches there too.
All the glass is there although there is a crack in the drivers side windscreen. I was told this is available in the US.
Obviously it will need a low loader to take it away.
