2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

£119,950

Introduced in 2010, the 997 GT3 RS boasted a handful of updates over the 997 GT3, namely the larger 3.8-litre Mezger flat-six cylinder engine, producing 450 bhp, a 35 bhp gain on its older 3.6-litre sibling. It shared the wider 911 bodyshell with the Carrera 4 and thanks to a revised front end and large rear spoiler, achieved even greater downforce than the GT3, with much improving high-speed stability. For the second generation of the 997 variant of Porsche’s fabled 911, the GT3 RS would once again become the benchmark in performance for its class, and a car which most supercar enthusiasts aspired to own.

Sold new via agents ‘The Collection’ of Coral Gables, USA in July 2010; this left-hand-drive GT3 RS is finished in one of the car’s official launch colour combinations – Carrara White, with contrasting red decals. Inside the cockpit, the car boasts a full Alcantara interior with sports seats and red stitching throughout, also fitted with Porsche’s  ‘Sport Chrono’ package – perfect for getting to and from the race track without getting lost, and clocking your lap times upon arrival.

The car sadly suffered some accident damage to the right-rear corner very early in its life (June 2011) and was written-off by the US insurance company – this is most likely due to the replacement parts being unobtainable at that time. The 911 then sold to its second custodian in November 2012, with the new owner fully repairing it, including a colour-change to striking Viper Green. As values began to rise, the car was returned to its correct white/red factory specification and resold to the current owner (through ‘Wicked Motor Works’ of Los Angeles) in December 2014, by which stage it had covered just 3,280 miles.

Satisfied the car had been repaired to factory specification; a clean “rebuilt” title was issued by the California Motor Vehicle Dept. (Sherman Oaks) in December of the same year, replacing the “salvage” title assigned in June 2011. Our vendor used the car sparingly for a few years Stateside at his holiday home in Vero Beach, later shipping it back to his UK main residence during early 2019. The last US service was carried out at 7,719 miles (VIP Autoworks, North Hollywood, CA), at which stage the Speedo was changed due to an electrical fault. The RS has subsequently covered a further 4,372 miles in his ownership, taking the total mileage covered, both sides of the water, to a very modest 12,000.

The car was first registered for the UK roads in August 2019, with the accompanying V5c document showing zero previous keepers – It does however state that the car has been the subject of a rebuild. Despite this, the car is HPI clear and doesn’t appear on the V-car register. The GT3 RS was passed on to Ninemeister Porsche (Cheshire) in September 2017 for more than £25k of expenditure, including UK-specification bumpers and lights, factory roll cage, air-con upgrade, brake rebuild, attention to the wiring, interior and much, much more. Well-specified when new, it benefits from the desirable suspension lift option (on key fob) and a very expensive titanium exhaust system.

Suitable for ultra-fast road use, but equally at home on the race track; ‘MX60 UDZ’ is accompanied by its original owner’s pouch, together with a large quantity of receipts for work carried out, a letter of origin on Porsche letterhead, a copy of the California title and all documentation relating to the UK registration process.

This final iteration of the GT3 RS with a manual transmission – the 997 Gen II GT3 RS has already become a modern-day collectable and will surely have a fond place in the hearts of enthusiasts for years to come, thanks to its infectious performance and wonderful handling. This example offers the most cost-effective route into 997 GT3 RS ownership, allowing the new owner the opportunity to take to the track, enjoy it on the open road, or perhaps both!
