1966 Ford Thunderbird, V8, auto ready to use and improve as you go

I imported this car in August 2019 and did whatever it took to put it on the road, including brake overhaul including some cylinders, shoes, hoses and hard lines, wheel bearings check/replacement, steering tie rods, new tyres, UK spec headlights and more.

I got the sequential rear lights overhauled as they weren’t working, so now all the lights work as they should.

The car is very solid underneath, never had any welding, been undersealed from new.

I fitted a near new Edelbrock carb as it was difficult to start some times with the Holley that it came in with, and it now starts easy, even when it’s been sitting a while. Tickover can be a bit lumpy, but it does sit and tick over and it accelerates like it should. Does not overheat. Small exhaust leak at one manifold.

The interior is nice, but not mint. Somebody has fitted a new driver door card but it doesn’t have the little trim pieces and isn’t secured properly. Electric windows not working at this time, some motors turning, some not. Driver front seat has been redone at some point, passenger one has one small bit where the stitching has split, but it is not really noticeable. Rear seats are nice, carpet and headcloth all good. Some tidying could be done on interior. Heater matrix bypassed so I assume it leaks.

Exterior is very presentable but there are defects in the paint, some chips here and there. The headlight eyebrows are in the boot as the fixing lugs are broken. These are available new but you could probably find another way to fix these in place.

This car was used a fair bit in the filming of the new Indiana Jones 5 movie, mostly in Glasgow, and also in Pinewood Studios, but I haven’t seen the film, so don’t know if the car is seen in it or not.

No time wasters please, I have described this well, it’s a running, driving, stopping UK registered V8 coupe, which is MOT and tax exempt, and which can be used straight away but would benefit from some tinkering. Ready to enjoy for the summer and tinker as you go or over the winter.
